|
Ease of use |
The suite of installation equipment readily available makes for reliable and economical installation techniques. |
|
Strong |
Fusion Plast PE Fittings are proven globally and locally as a reliable selection for the toughest environments. |
|
Abrasion and corrosion resistant |
PE has high abrasion resistance and Fusion Plast fittings are usually made from the same polyethylene materials as the pipes, also inheriting the same excellent abrasion resistance. |
|
UV stable |
Fusion Plast PE fittings resin formulations contain carbon black to inhibit UV degradation. Carbon black imparts high UV resistance over long periods especially in harsh Australian environments. |
|
Lightweight |
Fusion Plast PE fittings are easy to transport and use in some of the most difficult in-trench, overhead, above and below ground conditions. |
Applications
Fittings and connections on PE pipes used in all market channels including:
- Water and infrastructure
- Irrigation
- Mining
- Gas
- Domestic and commercial plumbing
- Industrial
Product Details
Product dimensions
Iplex offers a comprehensive selection of Fusion Plast electrofusion fittings, engineered for reliable performance in water and gas pressure systems. These fittings are manufactured from high-quality PE100 black polyethylene and are rated PN16 for water and 10 bar for gas applications, adhering to Australian and international standards such as AS/NZS 4129 and ISO 4427-3.
The Fusion Plast electrofusion range encompasses couplers, elbows, tees, reducers, end caps, and branch saddles, accommodating pipe sizes from DN20 to DN630. Standard fittings are suitable for SDR11 to SDR17.6 pipes, while larger diameters, such as 250mm, can accommodate up to SDR21.
Iplex's polyethylene Fittings range in sizes from 16mm up to 2000mm in some instances.
Colours and Markings
Black bodies.
Polyethylene fittings typically contain carbon black for UV stability thereby giving them their colour.
Temperature Effects
The ‘Design Life’ of Fusion Plast compression fittings is 50 years when used to transport fluids at 20°C at a maximum pressure of 16bar. The 50 year period is an historic and somewhat arbitrary figure, however the actual lifespan of fittings is expected to be many decades longer, when designed, installed and maintained correctly. Fusion Plast PE fittings can be used at temperatures above 20 °C, however the pipe and fitting pressure capacity is reduced.
The fittings are also ideal for sub-zero temperatures above -20°C Celsius.
Chemical Resistance
Fusion Plast PE fittings are made from the high grade of polyethylene PE100 and hence share the chemical resistance of the parent pipes. When determining suitability for the transport of fluids, it is important that the compatibility of all materials coming in contact with the PE pipes and fittings is checked using the Iplex Chemical Resistance Tool

Installation & Handling
Handling and storage
Fusion Plast fittings are often used above ground in harsh environmental conditions. For information on handling and storage, please refer to the Plastic Industry Pipes Association website at www.pipa.com.au (Ref: POP001 and POP005). These documents can also be accessed here.
Installation and Testing
Fusion Plast has literature available specifically related to electrofusion and butt-welded fittings. For further details, contact our expert sales engineers.
The Fusion Plast range is compliant with AS/NZS 4129 which has extensive pressure, mechanical and material test requirements. Internal pressure testing limits are consistent with the requirements of the pipeline.
